1896 Plumbing & Heating gets its name from where our family’s story began.
In 1896, our great-grandfather, August Gustafsen, came to Worcester and listed his occupation as a plumber. He went on to establish a plumbing supply company, beginning a family connection to the plumbing trade that would continue for generations.
What started with August has been passed down through five generations of our family, along with the knowledge, work ethic, craftsmanship, and pride that come from growing up in the trade.
Today, 1896 Plumbing & Heating proudly serves homeowners and businesses throughout Greater Worcester County, backed by five generations of plumbing experience and family tradition.
And today, that legacy has another chapter. 1896 Plumbing & Heating is now proudly woman-run by the fifth generation of the family. As a great-great-granddaughter of the man who started it all, carrying the family tradition forward isn’t simply about running a plumbing company. It’s about honoring the generations who came before us while building a company for the next generation.
The tools, technology, and industry may have changed in the years since, but the principles behind our work have not: do the job right, take pride in your work, treat customers well, and stand behind your name.

1896 Plumbing & Heating is a Worcester plumbing and gas heating company run by Cleber Albino. The work is residential and commercial across Worcester County and Central Massachusetts — leaks and repipes, sewer lines, drains, gas boilers and water heaters, gas piping and well pumps.
Practically, the difference customers notice is that the person who looks at the job is the person who quotes it, and that we will tell you when the answer is no. A twenty-year-old boiler that is working is a boiler that is working, and we would rather say so than sell you one you do not need.
Spanish and Portuguese are both spoken here. In this city that is not a nice-to-have — it is the difference between a customer being able to explain what is actually wrong and guessing at it.
We do not offer free estimates and we do not offer financing. There is a $75 dispatch fee to come out and diagnose the problem, and it is applied to your bill when you book the repair.
